Civil, Industrial & Construction Estimator
Established Sacramento-area contractor is seeking an experienced Industrial Estimator to support a growing backlog of industrial, utility, infrastructure, and heavy construction projects. This is an opportunity to join a well-respected team that values practical experience, teamwork, and a hands-on approach to estimating.
We're looking for someone who can confidently manage projects from bid review through proposal submission while staying involved in the day-to-day work that keeps bids accurate and projects moving forward.
What You'll Do
- Prepare estimates for industrial, utility, infrastructure, civil, and heavy construction projects.
- Review plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop cost estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
- Prepare bid packages and proposals.
- Manage RFIs, RFQs, subcontractor communications, and bid follow-up activities.
- Work closely with project managers, operations teams, vendors, subcontractors, and company leadership.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project review meetings as needed.
- Identify project risks, opportunities, and cost-saving solutions during the estimating process.
- Support multiple bids and projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
What We're Looking For
- Experience estimating industrial, civil, mechanical, utility, infrastructure, wastewater, heavy construction, or related projects.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience preparing estimates, takeoffs, budgets, and bid proposals.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with estimating software is a plus.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
The Right Fit
We're looking for someone who brings solid estimating experience and a willingness to stay involved in the work. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling takeoffs, RFIs, RFQs, subcontractor coordination, bid preparation, and the day-to-day responsibilities that help keep projects moving. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being part of the process rather than simply overseeing it.
Compensation & Benefits
- $90,000 - $150,000+ annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
- Additional compensation components may be available, including bonuses, vehicle allowance, company vehicle, profit sharing, and other benefits.
